Fintech startup accused of sexism in their all-male workplace

Series A fintech startup BuyThingsNow just raised $30 Million for their Amazon Chrome Widget that helps customers buy things even faster because their buttons are bigger. BuyThingsNow has 32 employees, all of which are male, and most of which are victims of toxic masculinity. An insider told us that the CEO has lightly begun considering hiring women in the past, but hasn’t met any who have been culture fits.

However, BuyThingsNow is under heat as recent allegations of sexism arise. Gerald, an ex-employee, claims he was fired under sexist premises. In an interview with the lad himself, Gerald stated “Last Friday afternoon, we bought a 30-rack of Coors Lights to celebrate the closing of a new customer who we expect to churn within a month given our low-quality product. I’m not a big beer fan, so I suggested we pop open a bottle of Rosé as well. This was shot down with cackling laughs, and on Monday when I came to work, I was fired. Told I wasn’t a ‘culture fit’. It is clear to me that I was fired because they don’t think I’m manly enough.” Interestingly, BuyThingsNow has a quote under their ‘Careers’ tab on their website stating “We pinky promise we are not a discriminatory workplace.” This is going to be a tough case for Gerald to fight given their public stance against sexism. Donate to Gerald’s GoFundMe for a lawyer at gofundme.com/gerald-is-not-a-pussy.com.

BuyThingsNow has told us they are not worried about the situation given that the hype around their Dark Mode feature, launching in just 18 months, will overshadow any sexism allegations.
